Bangkok, Thailand

SkyView Rooftop.

Deep house above the Bangkok skyline at sunset. Filmed live on the rooftop.

When I landed in Bangkok for the first time, SkyView was the first door that opened for me in the city. I will be honest, it was not the kind of place where I had planned to start. I had a different picture in my head of what my first stage in Thailand would look like. But the way they treated me was exquisite from day one, and that matters more than any picture you carry in your head. I ended up playing every week for a whole year at the SkyView Hotel in Bangkok, and it was a real pleasure.

Playing the same room week after week teaches you things a festival never will. You learn how the evening breathes. You learn that a rooftop at sunset asks for something different than a club at 2 a.m., and that the music has to follow the light, not fight it. That lesson stayed with me in every room I have played since.

Most nights I started with Ambient, especially when the room was still empty. I never saw an empty room as a problem. It was space to breathe and to set the tone, and a few people always stopped to listen. From there I moved into Downtempo, letting the tempo rise slowly while the sky changed color above the skyline. By the time the city lights came on, we were in Deep House, with a warmer and more connected crowd than the one that had walked in.

That progression became a signature for me. Start soft, build with patience, and let people arrive at the dance floor on their own terms. I use that approach in many places now, but I learned it here, on this rooftop, one sunset at a time. Patience is the whole trick, and a rooftop is the best teacher for it.

There is also something special about being the first. SkyView gave me a regular night in a city where I did not know many people yet. It gave me a routine and a place to find my sound in a new city. Every week felt like a small conversation with the city. I would like to thank everyone who made me feel at home back then.

After a year, it was time to move on. A change in my musical direction pushed me to take the next step. I do not see it as leaving. I see it as a chapter that did its job. SkyView opened the door, and I walked through it.

The video on this page was filmed live on the rooftop, so you can hear and see the mood I am talking about: the skyline, the sunset and Deep House. If you run a hotel, a rooftop or a lounge and you want music that grows with the evening, this is the kind of set I love to play. Ambient for the first guests, Downtempo for the golden hour and Deep House when the night takes over.
