Sónar Galicia 2010.

The first Sónar Galicia took place in June 2010 at EXPOCoruña, at the same time as the Barcelona edition. Three days with LCD Soundsystem, Air, Hot Chip, Flying Lotus, Booka Shade, Laurent Garnier, Matthew Herbert and Sasha, among many others.

I was the Music Director, in collaboration with EXPOCoruña and Advanced Music. It was a big challenge and a dream for me, because it meant bringing one of the most respected electronic music festivals in the world to my home city.

My job was to think about the music as a whole: the line-up, the order of the artists and the way the three days would flow. Seeing names like Laurent Garnier, Sasha or Flying Lotus on a stage in A Coruña was something that, years earlier, I would not have imagined. I am proud of what the team built together.

I also played during the festival, on June 18, and I am happy that some of those moments were filmed. Being on the other side of the booth in my own city gave that night a very special feeling.

Sónar Galicia was a turning point for the city. It put A Coruña on the map of electronic music for a few days and showed that a festival of that level could work here. Below you can watch three videos from that edition.
